Terms of Service

Last updated:

These terms are the agreement between you and ZomaLog. The short version: ZomaLog is for adults, it helps you track what you eat but doesn't give medical advice, every tracking feature is free, and Plus adds more AI and removes promo cards. Your diary stays yours, and products you add to the shared catalog become open data.

Before launch: ZomaLog is preparing for its public launch. These terms describe how ZomaLog works from launch. If anything changes before then, we'll update this page and its date.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and ZomaLog ("we" or "us"). They cover the ZomaLog apps for iPhone and Android, the web app at zomalog.com/app and our website (together, "ZomaLog"). By creating an account or using ZomaLog, you agree to them.

Our Refund and Cancellation Policy and Disclaimer are part of these Terms. Our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explain how we handle your data.

2. Who can use ZomaLog

3. What ZomaLog is, and isn't

ZomaLog helps you log what you eat, set nutrition targets and see your progress. ZomaLog is a general wellness app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Consult a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

There is more in our Disclaimer.

4. Your diary is yours

You keep all rights to what you enter in ZomaLog. You give us permission to store, copy and process it only as needed to run ZomaLog for you: to keep your diary, sync your devices, make backups and provide the features you use. You can export your data or delete your account at any time, for free, whatever plan you're on. See Delete your account.

5. Plans and prices

Every tracking feature is free. Plus raises AI limits, removes ads and promos, and adds a few extras.

Plus goes on sale when ZomaLog launches in October 2026. Current prices, including prices outside the US, are on our pricing page. A price change applies only to new purchases and future renewals, never to a period you've already paid for. If the yearly price changes, we'll tell you before your next renewal.

Tracking features stay free. We won't put logging, barcode scanning, search, your history, charts, export, sync or account deletion behind a paywall.

6. Buying Plus

Where you buy Plus decides who charges you and which extra terms apply:

Plus works on every device where you sign in to the same ZomaLog account. To restore a purchase, use Restore Purchases in Me → Plus. Plus can't be shared through Family Sharing.

7. Plus: renewal and cancellation

Plus renews every year at $29.99 until you cancel. You can cancel at any time:

When you cancel, you keep Plus until the end of the year you've paid for. Then your account moves to Free, and everything you've tracked stays. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Refunds are covered in our Refund and Cancellation Policy: web purchases get a full refund on request within 14 days, and App Store and Google Play purchases follow Apple's and Google's refund processes.

8. Plus Lifetime

Plus Lifetime: what "lifetime" means

One payment, no renewals. You get Plus for as long as ZomaLog operates, including every future Plus feature and update. Your AI allowances always match annual Plus and never fall below 10 a day. If we ever shut down, you get at least 90 days' notice and a full export of your data. If that happens within 3 years of your purchase, we refund the unused months pro-rata. Lifetime is for your account only and can't be shared or transferred.

If you buy Plus Lifetime while you have annual Plus, Lifetime replaces it. If your annual plan was bought on the web, we cancel it straight away and refund the unused months pro-rata. If it was bought through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it there to avoid another charge. We'll show you how right after you buy.

9. AI features and fair use

ZomaLog's AI features are optional: Describe (type or dictate what you ate), Snap (a photo of your meal) and label reading when you add a product. They work only after you give permission once in the app. Without it, you can still log everything manually.

Daily limits. Limits reset at midnight where you are, and only successful results count.

Fair use means the published numbers are real limits for your own personal logging, and we won't hold you below them. Automated or bulk use, sharing an account or reselling results isn't fair use. If an account looks like that, we may ask you to stop, and if it continues, we may pause AI features on that account.

Changes. If we change these limits, we'll update the pricing page and these Terms first. We won't lower the limits of a paid plan during a period you've already paid for, and Plus Lifetime always follows the rule above.

Estimates. AI results are always labelled Estimate and can be wrong. You can edit everything before you log it, and you're responsible for what you log. AI features depend on outside providers and may sometimes be unavailable. Logging by search, barcode or Quick add still works.

10. Food data and products you add

Every food in ZomaLog shows its source, such as USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, a restaurant's published nutrition information or ZomaLog users. Food data can be incomplete or wrong, so check the pack when it matters, and use Report a problem if something looks off.

Adding a product. When you add a missing product, you send us the details you confirm and photos of its label and front. The product is private to you at first. After automatic checks, confirmations from other users or our review, it can become part of ZomaLog's shared food catalog, visible to everyone.

Your license to everyone. The shared catalog is open data. When you submit a product, you agree that:

so anyone, including us, may use, share and adapt them under those licenses. Your diary, private foods and recipes are never part of the shared catalog, and we never show who added a product.

Open Food Facts. If you opt in (nothing is preselected), we may also send confirmed products you added to Open Food Facts, an independent open food database, where the photos are public under CC BY-SA. Shared data can't be recalled.

What you may upload. Only photos you took yourself, showing the product and its label: no people, no personal information and nothing offensive. We may edit, reject or remove any contribution, for example when checks fail or a problem is reported. If you delete your account, products already in the shared catalog stay there, without any link to you.

11. Cards on the free plan

On the free plan you'll see an occasional card from ZomaLog, such as a tip or an offer. Cards never appear while you're logging, and they never use your food, weight or health data. The Plus trial, Plus and Plus Lifetime show no cards.

12. Acceptable use

Please use ZomaLog fairly. Don't:

13. Suspension and account closure

You can stop using ZomaLog and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or close an account, or limit features, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if there's fraud, if you put others at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

If you dispute a charge with your bank (a chargeback), Plus is removed from your account. We don't close accounts over a dispute unless there's fraud.

14. If ZomaLog shuts down

We don't plan to, but if we ever shut ZomaLog down:

15. Changes to ZomaLog and these Terms

ZomaLog will keep changing. We may add, change or remove features, within the promises in these Terms.

If we change these Terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using ZomaLog, cancel Plus and delete your account. If you keep using ZomaLog after the change takes effect, the new Terms apply.

16. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep ZomaLog reliable and useful, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these Terms. In particular, we don't promise that ZomaLog will always be available or free of errors, or that food data, estimates or targets will be correct or right for you. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by law.

17. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows:

These limits don't apply to our refund commitments in these Terms, or to liability the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

18. Disputes

If you have a problem, please email [email protected] first, so we can try to fix it. If you live somewhere whose consumer protection laws give you rights these Terms can't change, those laws still apply to you.

19. If you got ZomaLog from the App Store

These points apply to ZomaLog downloaded from Apple's App Store:

Purchases through Google Play are also subject to Google Play's terms.
